Hogs

In 2008, we decided to purchase a few feeder hogs and raise them for our own purposes.  A number of people found out about this, and asked us to raise one for them.   We have decided to continue this as long a people are interested. 

All our hogs are fed a balanced ration of hog feed and corn meal.  This allows the hogs to grow and not become too fat.  All our hogs are taken to market between 250lbs and 350lbs.  By keeping the weight under 350lbs, we are able to provide a product which does not have an over abundance of fat.  Therefore you get more meat for the dollar!

Hog Processing

We utilize Morgan's Meat Processing in Madisonville, TN.  We transport the hogs to the processing facility for you.  Two to three weeks before your processing appointment, we'll provide a cut sheet to you so you can select the cuts of meat you want.  You can choose to have a portion of your pork products cured.  Items available for curing include hams, roasts, and bacon.  The curing process makes the meat taste more like what you would find in the store.  All curing is done by Benton Country Hams in Madisonville.  Curing takes from 2 to 5 months depending on the item you have cured.  All meat is wrapped in freezer paper when packaged.  The type of cut is stamped on the outside of the package. 

2009 Pricing

Please visit our General Store to place an order.  We are currently taking deposits for 2009 winter hogs.  These hogs will be ready in December or January.  All pricing is based on live weight. Hogs will be weighed using our Tru-Test scales before they go to the processing facility.  Weight tickets will be provided as part of the invoice/receipt.

When paying for your animal, you will make two payments.  The first is to Cross Brothers Enterprises, LLC for the animal itself.  The second will be to Morgan's Meat Processing for the slaughter bill and processing fee.
